IOSH Managing Safely
An industry recognised certification for all our Garage Managers providing the knowledge and tools to work safely.
One of the principal challenges facing the HGV industry currently is a lack of qualified and time-served technicians in the labour market.
Pullman Fleet has implemented a number of solutions to mitigate these recruitment challenges which includes an increased spotlight on learning and development.
We view training as continuous, and work closely with the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) and other training providers to monitor legislative change and new technologies: this ensures our workforce remain knowledge experts in their field.
An industry recognised certification for all our Garage Managers providing the knowledge and tools to work safely.
As part of our commitment to tackling the industry skills gap, we’ve welcomed 15 apprentices over the past three years. By combining hands-on learning with professional mentoring, we’re helping to develop the next generation of skilled technicians.
Ongoing Garage Manager and Technician training: Our garages have a Skills Framework in place which forms the basis of our training roadmap. Regular performance reviews further identify any training needs to ensure capability.
Accredited, hands-on training for logistics, transport, warehousing and construction.
Pullman Academy is now open, delivering IMI-accredited training that helps businesses stay compliant, tackle skills shortages and retain great people. Backed by 30 years of real-world experience, our courses are practical, industry-approved, and designed to fit around your operation.
From first aid and forklift training to abrasive wheel safety and HGV inspections, our instructors focus on what matters most: workplace safety, legal compliance and on-the-job readiness.
Training is available at our Sherburn HQ, on-site at Pullman locations, or at your premises.
The UK needs more qualified HGV technicians, and we’re taking action. GearUp is our technician training programme designed for people with a background in vehicle maintenance who want to step up into the HGV world.
We hire full-time from day one, and support each trainee to build real-world skills working alongside experienced HGV techs at our Pullman sites. Training includes in-house learning and IRTEC Inspection Technician certification delivered in partnership with Remit Training.
We’re not just filling vacancies – we’re investing in future talent.
