When Tyne Youth & Community reached out for help creating a dance studio from an unused room, they simply needed support with the flooring to get the project moving.
The centre sits in one of the most deprived areas of North Tyneside, and the team wanted to create a space where people of all ages could come together, build confidence, and enjoy something new.
Pullman donated the funding needed for the foam supports that sit beneath the new flooring. It was a small contribution with a big job to do, and it unlocked the entire project. Within days, the old concrete weights room had begun its transformation into a fully sprung dance studio.
The results speak for themselves. The studio is now being used by dancers aged from just three years old right through to over-70s, and classes continue to grow week by week.
Duncan Stewart, Chair at Tyne Youth & Community, shared the impact with us:

Foam supports for the dance floor
“This has allowed us to transform an old weights room into a thriving dance studio for all ages and abilities. Tyne is located in one of the poorest areas of North Tyneside, and this has meant we can bring new opportunities to local residents which they wouldn’t otherwise have been able to access. It’s growing week on week since completion, we couldn’t have done it without your kind donation.”
We’re proud to have played a small part in unlocking such a positive project for the community. Sometimes all it takes is one piece of support to get something meaningful off the ground, and seeing the studio come to life has been a brilliant reminder of that!
