We’re proud to announce that Thomas Ruhe, Apprentice Technician at our Ellesmere Port workshop, has been named Pullman Apprentice of the Year 2025.
Our Managing Director David Jones, Operations Director James Hipkiss, and HR Manager Sean Derrig recently visited the workshop to surprise Thomas with the news and recognise his outstanding contribution to the team.
Since joining Pullman, Thomas has consistently impressed with his methodical approach to fault-finding, repairs, and HGV maintenance. He has developed a strong understanding of both mechanical and electrical systems, carries out his work to a high professional standard, and always puts safety first.
Thomas takes pride in doing things properly – from using PPE correctly to keeping his workspace clean and organised – and he’s known for being a reliable, positive team player who’s always happy to support colleagues.
One of his teammates shared how much of a difference Thomas has already made:
“Tom has made many positive impacts on the team, but a standout example for me is the assistance he brings during an engine rebuild.
With Tom’s help, we are able to half the time spent during a rebuild, and due to his conscientious approach to jobs, I can trust him with such a technical and demanding job.”
Thomas is also proactive about learning, regularly seeking advice from experienced technicians and confidently applying his training on the job. His curiosity, professionalism, and drive to improve have already set him up for a strong future in the HGV sector.

His achievement has been recognised with a well-earned reward – but more importantly, it reflects what Pullman apprenticeships are all about: supporting our people, developing skills, and helping our teams build long-term careers.
Huge congratulations, Thomas.
We’re proud to have you as part of Team Pullman.
